On 30 June 2019, Ducere Foundation, in conjunction with the Australian High Commission to Kenya, launched the 56th African Children’s Stories collection in Puntland State of Somalia.
It’s the first African Children’s Stories collection in Somalia. Over 15,000 books were distributed to 20 schools, creating libraries of African stories written by Somali students, for their fellow students in order to improve their literacy and creative writing skills.
The event was officially opened by Mr Abdullah Mohamed – the Puntland Minister of Education and Higher Education in Garowe, the capital city of Puntland State of Somalia. The event was attended by the student authors, their parents, guardians, teachers and the headmasters of the different schools.
